Review

This is official description

Flash2Video can convert SWF files to AVI, MPEG4, VCD, etc. It can also extract the audio from flash files. Batch conversion can do conversion tasks automatically on multiple files. We can specify the output file size. The program will select the bit-rate for the files based on our choice of file size.

The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 5.8

Flash2Video is a SWF video file converter for Windows. It is simply a converter that will convert SWF files (that is the only input format that it supports) into a handful of other formats. It does not support the most popular extension for Flash videos, FLV.

The converter is pretty basic all across the board. It can convert files to 4 different formats: VCD, SVCD, DVD, and MPEG-4/AVI file. For each of those formats, you are given the option of using the PAL or NTSC standards. If you decide to use the AVI format, you can change certain settings like video resolution and compression settings. But don't expect much depth. There are two conversion modes: normal and overspeed. The normal mode is recommended since the overspeed one will result in grave quality loss.

The application can process several files at once with the same conversion settings. It has a built-in video player that will allow you to preview your videos.

All in all, Flash2Video does one thing only: converts SWF files to a handful of formats. I tried renaming a FLV file into SWF just to see if it would convert it, and the application said that the conversion was successful, but it didn't really convert anything. There was no output file. Perhaps the error messages are not all there to prevent this kind of behavior.
  • It is fast.
  • Bad format support both for input and output files.
  • Errors and false conversions.
